FiveSeven Grille Review
While I wait patiently for my picture editor (aka my wife) to finish her job, I’ll do a play by play on the grille named after Biggio and Bagwell. Here are some complaints from our table of six at the FiveSeven Grille:
- There wasn’t enough heat thrown on the sliders, so we tattooed them over the fence in right field. Seriously, the sliders (which are mini burgers) came out raw. That order was sent back, so the next order came back charred. Typical. Can Goldilocks get her sliders “just right?” Not here apparently.
- The hamburgers were raw. No surprise since they couldn’t get the sliders cooked properly. This is easily rectified by a pow-wow with the cooks. The cooks must have been feeling the pressure to hurry things along since the place was packed. The waitress was decent, but you really can’t tip on performance when it’s already included for a party of six.
- The Mojito. I am not surprised that I wasn’t impressed. Their mojitos are made with a hint of honey and vanilla. My advice? Quit hinting at it, and put it in there. All I could taste was liquor, lime and a hint of mint. This is easily corrected, all you need to do is rip open a packet of splenda, and you’re good. I recommend splenda because it dissolves so much easier than sugar. Also, 9 out of 10 birds prefer splenda (this is an inside joke I share with the outlaws.)
Here is a list of things we liked about the FiveSeven Grille:
- The rotisserie chicken nachos. The chicken is excellent. The toppings of which included black beans, queso, and a few fresh peppers. Warning: Do not put a fresh pepper on your nacho. This is not pickled, I repeat, this is NOT a pickled pepper. If you want the jalapeno flavor, just shake out the seeds and it won’t sizzle as much.
After that, rub your eyes. I’m kidding! - The Top Shelf Margarita was excellent. I had mine with Silver Patron and Grand Mariner served on the rocks. Well done.
I had everyone rate the experience on a scale from 1-10 and our review of the FiveSeven Grille landed on a 5
It was an average experience that was topped off by getting the promotional item as soon as you walked in. Will we do this again? I don’t know.
I’m OUTTA here!
Not yet, but tomorrow morning I will be. We’ll be flying in to meet the outlaws (they’re really the in-laws, but I prefer outlaws) for tomorrow’s game at Minute Maid. Before gametime, we’ll be skipping over to the FiveSeven Grille. If you call and get reservations before hand, you are guaranteed the promotion for that day. Our reservations are at 3:30pm, so that will give Tracy plenty of time to take pictures afterwards. HA! I wonder if you could just grab your blankey and run?
Seriously, I’ll be sure and buy some overpriced food. It’s worth it to bypass the long line. At stake, are MMP’s 10th season stadium blankets. We’ll be sitting in section 127.
I’m going to try the Killer Bee Mojito (I think that’s what it’s called.) I love mojitos, and make them at home myself. It’s a low calorie alcoholic drink that’s popularity cranks up with the temperature. You have to be careful to “muddle” the mint with the lime and the simple syrup, not crush it. Crushed mint leaves cause serious problems when you’re trying to drink it. We’ll see how they do. I catch myself watching the bartenders to make sure they’re being gentle with the mint. ;) I’m lightly joking here, but my wife will say I’m serious.
The Astros will be throwing the Wand out there tomorrow, and he’ll be going up against Harang who thus far, has had some good stuff. He gave up one earned run against the Mets and lost, and his one win against Pitt, he struck out nine and gave up zero runs. He hasn’t had a lot of success against the ‘stros, so I hope that continues. I hope Wandy continues to do well at MMP, and the bats stay hot.
A side note: I would really like to see Oswalt look like an ace again; it will be interesting to see how he pitches tonight.
